Key won't turn in the ignition?

It's usually one of a few things, and some of them take seconds to fix.

Steering lock

If the wheel was turned when the engine stopped, the steering lock holds the cylinder. Turn the wheel gently both ways while turning the key.

Gear selector

Automatics often won't release unless the car is fully in Park.

A worn key

Compare it with the spare. A worn or bent blade no longer lifts the wafers in the cylinder.

A worn cylinder

If the spare also sticks, the cylinder itself is worn. Ignition repair is usually cheaper than replacing the whole switch.
